X2, everyone's opinion on what to do first will differ depending on their intensions on wheeling. If going out in a group where there are already people with a winch then maybe you can put that one off because you can always use theirs. Best to get the wheels and tires so you don't get stuck in the first place. Also, if joining a Jeep club look to see what their minimum requirements are for joining, some clubs may require a cb or something else.

I would drive the stock tires till they are bald. While doing so I would save up for 35s and a lift. You would also need a y pipe or exhaust spacer. The need 3.6 and 4.10 would be perfect for 35s. Then you can slowly get bumpers and winch and stuff

Before I would start making any changes I would go through this thread, get the free or relatively cheap stuff out of the way first.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...should-be-done

That will give you some time to really hone what you want to get done and narrow your choices before you start putting bigger dollars in. Trimmed fender flares, or after market flats and you can roll 35s without a lift. Wheels and Tires are going to be a stretch, even with getting a premium dollar for your take offs and your budget. The big thing, is figuring out where you want to be and limiting interim steps of getting there. For example getting 33s when you really want 35s.

Again, finding the inexpensive and free stuff will occupy enough time that you can be on better footing when you get ready to spend some bigger dollars.

1. With wheels and tires done new, and I would be able recoup about 1k by selling the new oe stuff. Method Race wheels black at $162 per with 285/70 17 will give me 1.5 to 2 inches more width what would be great for trails. It would be nice to find a m/t(I am looking at 3 right now) with a buy 3 get 1 free deal. If I cant find the deal I want I will stay stock till replacement time or I hit a windfall of cash.

2.(maybe 1.) There are vids of oe rubi running the rubicon trail so it can be done. It is nice to buy such a capable vehicle of the showroom. With this the case LoD bumper and winch is not a bad place to start.

3. Small short arm lift. Just not a big fan of the lift with stock tires look, wheels/tires will definitely be before the lift.

Thanks for the suggestions. Like I said before this will be a tame and clean build that looks good in my eyes. Eventually getting to 3 inch lift 5 35 inch m/t on black method race wheels with front and rear bumper/carrier with effective winch in case of trouble....
