What gears for towing with 33's
Just got my 33's. I am looking for a small light travel trailer. Just wanted to know what gear ratio would be best for increased power. I am not super concerned about gas mileage. Also what performance chip and why.

Which transmission, and how often will you tow.
If it's 'small and light', and you aren't towing often, I would gear for the tires, not for the towing.
If you end up with something not so small and light, and if you have an auto, take into consideration that you may have OD off when you tow. No overdrive combined with low gearing does things to the rpm at freeway speeds...

I would stick with the 3:73 if you are only towing a few times a year. How heavy is the trailer you are towing? Just keep the JK in overdrive off mode. Do you have several mountian passes you want to get up? Also, how long of tows are you looking at? The 3:73 will be capable of towing with 33's.
If you have the cash to spend on gearing...4:10's should work with 33's. If it was me....and I planned on regearing it would be 4:88's or 5:13 gears so I could jump up to 35's.

I think 4.88s aren't steep enough for towing even with 33s. 5.13s are the way to go for towing along with the SC tuner. You're still going to be under 2500 rpms at the highway speeds speaking of with OD on and with it off you'll be at 3400 at 65mph.
The biggest crippling thing is going to be at the low end of the power band when in OD. With 4.88s you will be at around 2300 rpm in OD at your highway speeds and if you come under some load be it a hill or stiff wind you'll unlock the converter, down shift and flash your rpms up to 3800. That would suck far worse than twisting your motor a slight bit more.
