Default What is inner C?

I was reading the JP app and the was an article on things to look for in used JKs. It mentioned if the top of the tire is angled inward toward the other, the inner C is probably bent. Where is it? How do you fix it? What causes it?

The top of the drivers is angled inward when I check it with a level. The passenger side is level. What is up with that?

The inner C is where the tire physically mounts to the axle. It is a part of the actual axle housing furthest from the center.

Can the inter c be fixed or replaced if bent or broken or does the whole axle have to be replaced?

The axle C's are usually pressed and then welded to the axle tube and becomes a permanent part of the axle housing. When the C is bent it will affect the camber of your front tires. Camber being the slight inward angling of your front tires relative to the vertical. The only way I have heard of correcting this problem is with offset ball joints which will correct the angle that your outer knuckle (the part that attaches to the C's) will sit at.

How do you know if the C is bent? Could something else cause the tire to lean inward? I have on wheeled the jeep in over 4 months did not have a problem. Put a lift on death wobble. I read about loosing up the front end and then install and torque down. I did all that. Still have death wobble.

I just noticed that the front tires are cupped on the outside if the tire. What causes that?

Usually lack of periodic tire rotation.

DW is usually caused by more than one specific cause but the first thing I would check is make sure your track bar is TIGHT. The axle tube bracket hole is oversized and allows significant movement.

How much is the top of your tire leaning in?
The normal camber for the JK is top of the tire leaning in as much as 0.62°.

Specification is :

CAMBER: -0.25° ± 0.37° (-0.62° to +0.12°) MAX LT/RT DIFFERENCE ± 0.5°
