Are lockers the best for snow or ice? Hell no. They ARE the best though at transmitting power to BOTH axles equally. In the end it's your call.
Beware of Southern Rednecks giving advice on how to drive on ice! That's we all want to see, our lovely spouses drifting through a curve on ice in our brand new JKs.

When the roads do ice-up here every other year I find the best solution to to place the transmission in P.

So far your electric front option is to put in a Rubi 44 axle. Not a bad deal if you can find one at the old price.

Rhino, save yourself the stress and just buy the front selectable to begin with. You know you want one. That way you won't be saying, "I knew I shoulda bought that OX," as you're doing the 4 wheel ballet on some snowy/icy exit ramp.

LMAO. I'll kinda have to agree with you some. You're damn right. We don't see much ice and snow down here at all. But driving in loose mud does give similar results...though nothing is as slick as ice. Well...maybe deer guts on a doorknob. ...and when I said teach her how to drift, I just meant "just" enough to straighten the Jeep up if if gets squirrely. Dammit all.
