Default What M/T tire to run?

New to the jeep world and the whole off roading world too, so I'm asking a really noob question. I'm looking to replace the stock Rubicon tires with something bigger, not sure if 33 or 35 yet, while keeping the stock suspension, maybe get a 2'' body lift if needed.

Basically I don't know the difference between all these different M/T tires out there, but I'll list what I'm looking for and maybe somebody can be nice enough to recommend me some or tell me the difference between brands.

M/T
Agressive look
wide
with shoulder - I don't like the square edge look on some tires, I like it more round
the quieter the better although I don't really care much
don't care for tread life as sooner or later I'll take them off and get a bigger size
price is not an issue

BTW I will consider changing rim if need be

Mostly mud, some fire roads, and eventually some rocks. But pretty much mud however I would like to be able to do a little of everything.

Go with 35's. Best choice I've made so far. I think you have 17" wheels, if you are staying with the stock wheels I highly suggest Nitto Trail Grapplers. 35/12.50/R17 is what you need.
It will require at least a 2.5" boost (I went with full Terraflex coil lift and new shocks) and wheel spacers, I went with 1.75" spacers. I get compliments everywhere I go.

Here is the write up I posted.

i would recommend you to go with goodyear mt/r kevlar. its really good off road, its got good road manner and is pretty quiet, it looks very aggressive. i suggest you get 33 tires as they fit in with stock suspension. while there may be a bit of rubbing on road if you hit a big bump, they will not rip anything off. you may what to consider a leveling kit that will give you aprox. 1 inch of lift to suit the 33s better and with 33 tires, you might want to consider new rims with less backspacing or wheel spacers for your stock rims. good luck ! check my avatar these where 33s without lift

Hey thanks a lot! your jeep looks great.

I'm not looking to upgrade suspension yet though. Can I run 35s with stock suspension and maybe some spacers to avoid rubbing

Thanks for the input, indeed those look sick!

Edit: Let me rephrase, what sized tire is considered wide?

I 2nd the terra grapplers. I like the look and bang for your buck are a great choice. I would also seriously consider the Hankook MTs. I just recenlty got me a set of 35s and they are awesome. not loud and tons of grip. nice side wall too. There was a mud tire shooutout in 4wheeler april 2011 that the Hankook won 1st place for. worth checking out if the link works. if not, google it

As I was looking for what you suggested, I managed to stumble upon this Yokohama Geolander tire (http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT..._Geolandar.htm)

Anybody have any feedback on this tire?
