Question What size wheels?

What size wheels would fit my '07 JK Rubicon? I don't like the popularity of the large wheels, and would like to go to a traditional, common-sized, 15x10" wheel with 35" tires mounted on them. However, recently someone pointed out to me a 15" wheel may not accomodate the disc brake calipers on a JK. Is this true?

Oh, for cheaper tires in the 15" range, versus the stock 17" tires. I assume more rubber would give a softer ride both on and off-road too.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
-Scott Davenport

You should be able to find 16's a good bit cheaper than 17's, but I would stay away from 15's

I have 15x10 U. S. Wheel Black Daytona Steel Wheels and 35x14.5 Super Swamper Bogger Tires on my '07 Rubicon. The wheels have 4" back spacing, and they fit.

I saw a 4 door the other day with 15's and it looked like they fit just really tight and i was wondering how many people are running 15's because I'm in the military and dont make enough money to afford all of the toys I want

I have 15x10 Procomp 8069 with 37" Goodyear MT/R. There isn't a lot of free space around the caliper, but fit fine with no rubbing or modifications. There are many others running 15" rims here as well.
When you decide which rims you want, check posts here to see if they will fit. Warning, don't trust the 4x shop salesman, he usually DOESN'T KNOW, but he will probably act as if he does. The smallest stock rim on a JK is a 16", so most incorrectly think a 15" doesn't fit. This forum is the place to find out, but it can be a bit difficult to sift through all the posts.

I'm pretty happy with my 18" rims on 35's. Get a lot of compliments. Plenty of sidewall. I have no concerns for curbs and the like. In fact, I refuse to parallel park....up & over every time!

So Broom is using 4" backspaced rims, will this work for any 15" rim or just the daytonas he's running?? Curious about this as well, hoping to put black rock crawlers on my rig... Can't stand the bigger rims

Thanks for the feedback. The 15" tires, as most know, are sooo much cheaper than the 17" ones. As well as I'd lot rather rub up against a rock with a tire sidewall than a wheel. My stock Rubicon Moab wheels are all gouged up from rockcrawling, and they're far too expensive to replace, just to damage them again. It'll be Unique 252 wheels for me when my 35x17" BFG MTs wear out soon.

Well, I didn't want to run the risk of interference with my brake calipers, so I went with 16x8" Unique 252 wheels with 295/80 - 16" BFG MT KM2s mounted on them. I get them mounted up tomorrow!

As a result, I've got five (5) Jeep Rubicon Moab wheels for sale. Price: $275. The wheels are in very good condition, with the exception of one which has some rock rash on it. You can see the specs and retail prices here:
