Default what size winch

what size winch would be recommended for the 4 door jk with 37x13.50 tires. few of my jeep buddies say the 9.5 is not enough and to go with the 12,000. any recomendations from the 4 door owners?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. I believe you are supposed to go with at least 3/4 of the weight of your vehicle. I think the 9.5 should work fine. Not only that, but if you use a snatch block you are essentially doubling your winches power. (But the line speed will be cut in half)
Good luck in your quest for a winch.

The rule of thumb is 1 1/2 the weight of your rig. A 9.5 is plenty big. a 12k is overkill.

Thanks for the correction. I couldn't remember/decide if it was 3/4 or 1.5 lol. Thanks

A 9.5 should be enough. I don't think it would be an easy task finding a mount for a 12 for a Jeep.

And the latest issue of Off-Road Adventures shows the new Warn Endurance 12.0 mounted on a Warn bumper on a JK. But, that could be just advertising fluff. However, I don't mean to suggest that anyone needs a 12K winch; people smarter than me say otherwise.
