Default What is this sound?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eaSsmpYUTM

Watch the video between 4:17 and 4:20. The pop or whatever it is happens around 4:19. After this noise it was clacking or popping whenever i turned the wheel sorta' like the steering wheel clunk issue but much much worse. It's at the dealership now getting looked at, but I'm not sure if they're gonna' be able to reproduce it. The severity of the noise went away eventually, but it was scary and I feel less than capable when I'm out there...thanks in advance.

that's what i was thinking but how? Mud is the most extreme thing there is around here. Also, i drove 75 miles home after that run. I don't think i could do that with a broken shaft.

35's on an X.... Maybe the X isn't strong enough. Mud is sticky and can cause breaking too, I'm sure (Slipping and suddenly finding traction). I have no experience though so I'm probably very wrong.

do you have aftermarket sway bar discos by any chance?

I get that REALLY bad sometimes the snap vibrates my floor boards and I figured out last night that the play between each end of my sway bar discos make a crapload of noise when I turn or flex. I went offroading a week ago and every little bump made my jeep sound like a firecracker going off.

Needless to day I'm going to buy different discos

heres the thread in case you want to look further into it:

Really hard to say, kinda sounds like loose suspension parts. But also sounds a little like the spider gears in your carrier are breaking. What locker you got in the rear. The reason I say it sounds like the spider gears, my 05 LJ Rubicon blew out the rear factory several months ago in Moab, sounded very close to what I can hear on your video. Good luck. Post up what the stealer finds.

factory discos...also, the dealer said that it is common on some of the lift kits that were installed down here by a company called Fortec, to have a defective something or other that causes a bolt to hit something or other and that an additional part is needed...

I just hope the stealer finds it. I guess I should call and tell them to turn on the disco and re-check. thanks
