Default What would you do?

Hey all,

So I just did a G2 A+G Front and Rear Axle upgrade. C44, ARB, 5.13. I have everything together with one exception...

The bracket that is used to hold the bolt that slides through the front track bar on the front axle.. the bolt hole is too small and the bolt will not fit. I have attached several pictures so you can see what I mean.

What would you do?

Thanks!

Looks like you can't do anything other than drill the hole out. Just make sure it's a really nice tight fit with the track bar bolt. Any slop could lead to death wobble.

I would drill it out.

I concur, drill it out and make sure it's a tight fit!

That bolt is not a stock bolt, it looks bigger. Another option would be to use a stock bolt (or equivalent).

Thank you for all the input. Gona drill it, figured that was the answer. The bolt is a stock bolt. If I reduce the bolt diameter to fit the bracket it leaves play inside the bushing on the track bar. This would result in a very deadly wobble. Not an option.

Drilling is obviously an ok solution, but no that is not a stock bolt. The stock ones don't have those markings on the heads of them and are threaded for the whole shank. That's an aftermarket grade 8 bolt.

Stock bolts look like this:

Also, is that last picture (5) your jeep? What's up with your steering it looks like a TJ?

That would be a grade 5 bolt.
3 bolt head hash marks in SAE land is grade 5.
5 bolt head hash marks in SAE land is grade 8.

Call in an in-betweener. Not a grade 8, but a shit ton better than standard automotive grade.

Thanks for setting me straight! That's a grade 5 as Larry said, but definitely not the stock metric bolt for a JK trackbar.

My apologies. It may not be the bolt off the factory floor but the length, diameter, thread pitch, count, etc are exact.

Bottom line the diameter is an exact match. And yes it is a TJ. The TJ forum won't accept my password lol.
