Any Cat back is gonna sound pretty close to what everyone else has on their jk. the best ive heard is with the RIPP long tube header and mbrp cat back combo.. There are tons of sound clips on you tube so go listen for yourself.

As far as performance from your exhaust though... RIPP Header is the way to go. they are reporting up to 15 hp gains at the rear wheel.

This is my opinion. I went with MBRP, not really impressed...sounds way better than stock at idle but that's it. No fuel or hp gains and seems more sluggish. The muffler makes a gurgling noise when letting off the gas (may be breaking it in but it's been on for 3000 miles now who knows?). I will keep it for now. Definately better than stock. Just keep in mind that it is only a 3.8L.

What is the best exhaust out there for performance and best sound. The meaner it sounds and the more HP boost the better. Not worried about price.

Thanks!

We've done a lot of time on the DYNO with a whole bunch of exhaust..... the majority of the cat backs lost a significant amount of power in the lower RPM's - the MBRP cat back was the only exhaust we found HP through the entire RPM band starting from 1800rpm to redline.... 2-11hp gains peak, with a solid 6 in the middle...

Adding our headers - with an MBRP exhaust sound like this... and add's 33ft/lbs or torque and 24rear wheel hp 700 rpm earlier... 2700rpm instead of 3300...

Questions welcome....

Save your money and put on my Hillbilly Exhaust set-up:

You save enough money to buy a A/M intake.

I ordered a Rusty's exhaust... a little over $200.00 delivered. I'll install after a few coats of high temp black. I really like that it's hi-tuck and should be quick & easy to install.

You have a link for that video? Id love to hear it for myself. Ive only heard a single gibson. Do you have long resonance tubes? they seem to help make the best sound for any exhaust that is dueled. IMO.
