ok...million dollar question...bought a 2013 sport last week...might be a dumb question...what do most people do first? If I go with tires and wheels...do I have to change gearing?

You drive it until that question answers itself. I'm not being a smartass. I drove mine for 12 months before modding it.

That's true what 4W-Jive says, but when I bought mine I had to lift it and install bigger tires. A jeep just don't look right with small tires. Just my Welcome to the forum.

There are some faq's stickied right to the top of this modified area. Might be a good place to start. That will give some background on what lift height you may want for various tire sizes. What gears you might want for various tire sizes. What components you might want in the lifts. etc, etc ...

It really depends on your needs as well as the kind of wheeling that you do. Do you just trail ride? If so maybe you find someone in your area and pick up their rubicon take offs (wheels/tires and suspension) and call it a day. Are you playing in rocks? Maybe you needs 35's or 37's and the mods required to run those. Are you just building a pavement princess aka mall crawler? Then do whatever gets your Jeep to where you want it. That being said I would say most people start with an exhaust and maybe some rock rails in your case. But it's your Jeep, build it in such a way that makes you happy.

On my last two Jeeps I did small mods and then bumpers and then lifted. On my current lift I just said screw it and dropped the coin on a lift, tires, wheels, and tire carrier right off the bat. It hurt my wallet, but I love it. BTW, I have an automatic with 3.73 gearing and it runs just fine.

So, it depends on how much money you're prepared to throw at your Jeep and what you prefer.

Some funny stuff! If I were to guess what I...and of course what my wife wants to do...it's gonna be a tweener. What was it one of you called it?...a mall crawl? It will probably be a trail snail! What is a concern is...the gearing exchange due to wheels and tires...lift kits...and what that guy says in his post about warranty voidance with the installation of a lift kit!!!

There is some gearing info in the faq's, and there are about a bajillion other 'what gears should I run' threads to read through to put the advice you will get into context. But, gears and lift will come down to tire size. Nobody can begin to tell you what size lift or what gears to go with until you decide what size tires you want to run.

For the warranty, maybe open the very first stickied thread in this modified area and spend a few minutes (hours/days) reading?

Ya...I read it...anybody else know this is true?...I'm probably not going to put more than 17 inch wheels on. Thanx so much for all your feedback!

I run 35's and the stock 3.21's on my 2012. As for warranty, it varies deals to dealer.
