That is the tire I have (35x12.50), and I'm running 17" rims with 4.75 backspacing with no spacers. Works fine for me (with a 3" lift).

I'm currently running 18 X 9 procomp 8179 with 4.75 back spacing, works good but my new summer rims are gonna be 18X9.5 with 4.5 backspace

4.5" backspacing seems to be the popular with those size tires. If you do 5" backspacing, I'm afraid that your turning radius will widen as the height/width of your tires will rub against the coils/shocks or even chassis. The 4.75" are a safe bet - they will stick your tires out from the fenders about an 1" to 1.5"

Let me help you out...

My tires are 12.5" wide. And 8" rims is what I have and they fit fine! (you're good to go in that department)

My wheels have 3.75" backspacing and stick my tires out from the fender flares about 2". Personally, I hate the look. If I could do it again I would do 4.5" backspacing. That way my tires would only stick out .5" or 1" tops from the fender flares and the look is sick.

With that said, factory backspacing is 6.25". The lower the backspacing number, the more your tires/wheels are going to move out/away from the Jeep. The higher the backspacing number, the closer your tires/wheels are going to be to the inside of your Jeep.

It depends on what look you prefer...

If you want your tires sticking out 1.5" to 2" then get 4" or 3.75" of backspacing.

If you want your tires sticking out .5" to 1" then get 4.75" or 4.5" of backspacing.

If you want your tires lined up with the fender flare, but because of the size you want they may possibly rub against the coils/shocks then get 5" of backspacing.

Does this help? (I think my previous response may have been a tad wrong but this is legit)

The one positive side to having your tires widened is you have more control and stability on the ground. Looks-wise, it's up to the driver. I don't like my tires out that wide. Everyone's different.

Goldorak - what are the specifics of your tires (size).

I'm curious because as you can tell, I want to move my whole set up flush with the fender flares. However, my tires are 12.5" wide. From the picture yours looks about 11" wide or so. So, I'm curious about your tire specifics.
