Default Wheel balancing-- does this look wrong to you?

I dropped the JK off at discount tire today to have the sidewalls reversed (black out instead of white out). They rebalanced the tires for me and when I got back to work to let some air out, I noticed these classy weights that they stuck to my wheels with double sided tape....

Now, to their credit, the ride is fine and there is no wobbling.... but am I crazy for thinking that this should have been done better-- and without double sided tape? I mean, I'm no expert on wheel balancing, but this just doesn't seem right....

those are fine. nice actually. rocks won't rip them off. Those are used on most cars and/or nice rims where you wouldn't want the normal weights showing and/or couldn't be installed due to the rim design. I always ask for those type on my other vehicles.

Yep, stick on weights are preferred to clamp on rim weights. The "double sided foam" comes already attached to the lead weights. All they do is peel off the backing. They do not appear to be dynamically balanced though (weights on the inner and outer edges for lateral imbalance) so they could have probably done a little better, but if it rides smooth don't worry about it.

Cool. I just had a very trustworthy little birdie confirm what you guys are saying.... I guess these little sticker weights are actually preferred! Who knew? They just looked like they'd come off in a river crossing or something, but it sounds like they were the way to go!

Thanks for the responses.

Default weights

They will do fine. if you are still concerned, cover them with gorilla tape or duct tape

Yeah, they make a nice mess when you have to remove them. Those are the ONLY balancing method used by motorcycle roadracers. They do slap some colored duct tape on the usually though.

i agree aswell. They are the only choice for nice wheels. After mine are balanced i always give them a tap with a rubber mallet and cover them with duct tape

Thanks for posting this Doojer. I have the same stuff stuck on my wheels and was about to go back to Big O and raise some stink. Thanks for keeping me from making an ass of myself (a particular hobby of mine.)
