Default Wheel Nightmare

I just traded in an 02 TJ Sahara w/ Mickey 15x10 Classic II Wheels & Mickey 33x12.50 MTZ's. My new JK is a black 2 dr X. My intention was to immediately lift the new JK w/ a 4" Superlift and ride 36x15.5's (bought an X on purpose to have more $$ to spend on goodies). The problem is that NONE of the major manufacturers make a wheel that will allow a wide tire on this vehicle. 90% of the wheels that will fit are 8 or 9 inches wide and they look like they belong on Pimp My Ride. The closest I've come is to talk to a Centerline rep who will make me custom wheels at $300 a piece plus sh & tax. OUCH. Either that or buy an adapter (which seems clumsy) for a 5 on 4.5 wheel. What a disappointment. After owning 5 Wranglers in the past 15 years I thought I'd never see the day when parts were not readily abundant for our trucks. I can't imagine why Jeep didn't use a common bolt pattern on this model. I've been on the phone for a week now trying to find wheels and I'm still @ square 1. Anyone have a common situation/frustration?

I've seen a lot of JK (mostly from this site) running Pro Comp rims. They look good to me. But I wish DC used a more common bolt pattern as well. But hey, I'm happy with mine so far.

Im in the same boat every time I think i like a wheel I dont go with it. So far Procomp have the best looking wheels I think. I had mt classicII on my 02 tj and baja claws and loved them but I want to run a 17 in wheel on my jk and the classicII doesnt look too deep if you know what i mean in a 17. My wife says im too old school and need to look at more wheel choices but who knows.

Yeah.. I'm old-school myself. I kinda liked it back in the day (I got my first Jeep in 1993) when all wheels were either 15 inch or 16.5. Nice, simple and classic looking. This whole fad about putting 18's-20's on a Jeep (no offense to anyone here who has them) just looks awkward to me. Are those pro-comps you mention 16 x 10? If so, any idea where I can check them out?

I like them wide also, runing 35x13.5x15 Toyos open country M/T with crager soft 8s 15x10 right now. HaVe some 16lt- 160 Backhoe tires that I need to make a rim for, they are cool looking on a jeep

Here are a few that may help you out

15"x 14" rims with 5x5 bolt pattern

I WENT WITH 16X8 CRAGER SOFT 8'S. i DID NOT KNOW YOU COULD USE A 15 INCH RIM. I HAVE 33X13.5 TSL'S I HOPE WHEN THEY WEAR OUT I CAN FIND SOME PLAIN BLACK RIMS FOR 35X16 BOGGERS. I GUESS THEY NEED TO BE ABOUT 12 INCHS WITH RIGHT.

I found them! 16 x 10 polished aluminum, made by Pro Comp. Not a bad price either.. $135 a rim. The only dealer that had them was 4wheel Pts Wholesaler. I think I'm gonna purchase them today. Thanks to all who wrote.

i went with pro-comp 8179 15x10 and i love them. their the black ones with the polished "beadlock" edging . they are also able to be upgraded with the rock rings if ya want. they have the bolts already on them for it. but yeah procomp has lots of choices for the j/k they where really on the ball with the 5x5 pattern unlike many other companies. BTW notice mine are 15x10 and they are aluminum. theirs a lot confusion on what fits i could have gone with 16's but hell the 15s fit, were cheaper and the tires where much cheaper saved about $250 between tires and rim with the 15 size vs the 16. and i guess i'm "old school" too i just don't like more rim then tire look.
