Default wheel options for 38x14.50x17 Mtrs

looks like the mall crawler selection doesn't really offer anything for 17" tires wider than 9". I know I can run with an 8.5 or 9" wide tire but I'd prefer to run with the recommended 17x10" wheel. Is anyone else running these wider tires and if so, what wheels are you running?

Spyderlocks are 9.5" wide. Also 3.5" back space. You'll need at least that much backspacing (unless you have wider axles).

you really need to net out more like 2" bs for that tire.

3.5 bs on a 17x10 should be fine. It only an inch more to the inside than my 12.5s so moving the rim out another inch should offset that. I've got some spacers If I need tremor we we will modify contact points.

Those tires have the same fitment as a 40"x13.5" tire, a 37x12.5" tire need a bs of 3.5" if going to wheel and retain full steering.
The only way to make those fit with a net 3.5 is to have around 6" of lift with lots of bump stop. You need 1" extra bs for width and 1/2" bs for the extra height over a 37x12.5.

True story. I'm on 37s and 3.5" back space. No chance the 38x14.50 would fit. Unless of course, I only drive straight. It would be an even bigger clearance issue off-road with the tires aired down or when the tire is stuffed.

PLanman is the only one who actually gives good info on "how" to make it work. Geezus, mopar put 40s under a jeep with STOCK suspension.
For those of you interested in how to run 38x14.50 tires with a 3.5" suspension lift, stay tuned and I will tell you exactly "how" to do it.
I'm mounting the tires on XD812 crux 17x10 wheels with 4.5" backspacing and 1.5" spidertrax spacers to net out to 3" of backspacing.
If I have any issues with rubbing on the inside (which I shouldn't), I will tell you where I had to trim or if I had to put washers for steering stops.
As far as lift, the 3.5" RK long arm lift is plenty to clear 38" tires using 3" bumps. I could extend my polyfoam upper bumps but I would rather trim what I need than to lose more up travel.

These aren't 44s folks, they are 38s. 1/2 of an inch more radius than 37s and only 1 more inch of rubber to the inside than the 12.5. I've already got my pinch seam trimmed and my flat fenders can be trimmed or even moved up if thats what it takes.

nothing against those who went with 37s but I wanted something different and I know that the 3.5" lift will allow 38s but not 40s with flat fenders. I will be going to 40s eventually but only when I've figured out how to fit those without lifting it any more, just need to know where to cut.

With that wheel you actually net out to 2.125" bs when runniing spacers. The 10" wheel gains you 1.375" of back spacing over the factory 7.25" wide wheel. a 9" wheel would gain .875", a 8.5" wheel would gain you .625", and a 8" tire would gain you .375".

You should be right around 84" wide when all said and done.
