Default wheel purchase

Just leveled off and added new shocks. Want to go bigger tires, planning for 285/70r17 Goodyear Duratrac. I do not plan to go any bigger anytime soon.

Wondering if i should go with a 17x8 or 17x9 rim size? Pros / Cons of each

Thanks

IMO, a 9" wheel is too wide for that tire and exposes the sidewall to damage. Then there's the increased chance of losing a bead with the wider wheel.

I would look for a 7 or 7.5" wide wheel for that size tire.

Those are only 30mm wider than the stock 255s, I'd just stick with the OEM wheel or one that's the same width, like was said. Then you can get a little more backspace to be safe. 7x17 with 4.5" or 5.5" BS would work fine. Stock is 6.5" BS I believe
