Default Wheel Questions!

Hey everybody! Still here in Afghanistan. I have finally worked out all of the options that i want on my '09 JK. I was bummed out when the sales rep told me that steel blue was no longer an option, so i went with the red rock canyon. Anyway, my question is anyone running a 15x8 DC-1 or 15x8 M/T Classic II. If so, what exactly is the B/S and what size wheel spacers if necessary. I know the 15 in. wheel question has been beaten to death. The only reason I ask is that I want to run a 32x11.50 tire. That way I don't have to mess with the suspension. I saw a sweet deal at Desert Rat; but not sure about the rims. Thanks for any info as it is hard to get any information out here in the middle of BFE. Thanks, Umpeta

I think you'll be good with 4.5"-5" of BS. You could probably do 33" tires on stock suspension, too. I'm sure that's answered in the FAQ here. If you don't want to do new wheels, then you could do 1.5" spacers. I think that'll effectively reduced your BS to 5" on the stock wheels.

Default Still looking for answers!

Is anyone running 32x11.50x15? I don't want to go with 33's cause it seems to fill up too much of the fender well. The only size I can find a 32x11.50 is in a 15R. I really like the way the Black DC-1 looks, but I will settle for a Classic II looking wheel. Not to excited about the black steel wheels. No offense to anyone, i just prefer alluminum. Any feedback and or pics would be great.

Thanks, Umpeta

If you want to wheel the Jeep at all you will want a small lift like a budget boost 2.5" spacer. I have one from Teraflex and it is a complete kit. In the picture below is my setup. I have alloy wheels from Procomp (BS 3.75) and they were only about $100.00 each from Discount Tire. They work great and are 15" wheels with 33" tires. I ran it stock height for a couple of months. With the lift at only $225 it makes it function and look great. IMO. I had to throw in a pic of the JK out on the trail getting used rather than just the driveway poser shot. I cut the front hoop off after these trail shots. The first pic is newer and is the way it is now. If you would like to know any more just ask! Good luck with your new JK and get back home safe.

Yes, I made it over these rocks ... it's a Jeep!

Do steel and aluminum wheels perform similarly on the trail?

How much lighter has anyone noticed alloy rims being than steel?

thanks in advance

if your in the rocks, trust me on this, get steel. I got alloys and allthough they look cool as hell, I wished I would have bought steelies to begin with

nothing wrong with having a set of "show" wheels and tires and a set to wheel in, to bad mine have some nice rock rash now... guess I could use that as a conversation starter... hmmm

The backspacing on stock wheels is 6.25". A 1.5" wheels spacer would yield 4.75" of backspacing.

I think the others have hit it, though. If you read the FAQ, 3.75" BS is the way to go with 15" wheels to ensure there's no fitment issues on the JK. The Pro Comps are sweeeeet.

Did installing the lift level out your Jeep, or did you have to add spacers to the front to eliminate the rake?
