Default Wheel Size

I have a Jk sport so it came with 16 inch wheels. i was wondering if there would be any advantages in getting a 17 inch wheel when i move up to a 33 inch tire.

I have a 2010 sport as well. I kept my stock 16's (painted black of course) when adding my 35's. I had a plan of ordering 16 inch black rock steelies for about $50 bucks a wheel. Well, when I ordered my RC 3.5 inch lift they gave me a backspace recommendation of 4.5. Black rock doesn't offer a wheel in 16 inch with backspace of 4.5 in that price range. 17 in wheels and tires is a whole new price bracket that I wasn't in. SO, the easiest fix was make my stock 16 in wheels with backspace of 6 down to a 4.5. Hello spidertrax 1.5 wheel spacers. The spacers were just as much as the hoped for black rock wheels but I love the finished product. I love the look of a 16 in rim, more rubber the better IMHO. I guess the point of this is make sure you math out everything. because what I had in my plan for months changed the day I purchased everything. Here's a pic for ya. Stock 16 inch rims with 6' backspace, 1.5' spidertrax wheel spacers bringing backspace down to 4.5 ($200) Rough country 3.5 in lift ($500) Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 315/75/16 (35/12.50/16) Mounted and balanced ($1150) Total spent $1850. round up to $2000 for shipping and whatever but I installed lift myself so I didn't hit the $2000 mark.

Yeah i have the Stock one painted black now with a 29 inch bfg mud terrain tire. but i was tired of the paint chiping so i want to buy wheels that come black so they wont chip. but i dont want to have to buy wheels again when i move up to a 33 inch tire. but what your saying is just get spacers when i move up the tire size. i have a 2.5 rc coil lift with shocks. thanks for your help this wheel stuff frusterates me.

no..... buy wheel spacers if you keep your stock wheels and move up to 33's... If your set on getting new wheels than buy proper backspacing (recommended by your lift dealer) Put current tires on new wheels with the new backspacing.... Order new tires down the road, and put tires on when you get them...

Did that make better sense????
