Default Wheel Size ? 17x8 or 17x9?

Have BFG MTR's 35x12.50.17 - what wheel size would be best 17x8 or 17x9?

My vote would be for the 17x9. I have run 12.50's on 8's, 10's and now 7.5's. I like the footprint of the 10's, but they're a little wide. The 8's pull the edges of the tires in a bit causing you to use lower air pressure to get a good contact patch. This translates into slightly lesser handling capability on the road. The 7.5's are even worse about that than the 8's. The 9's would also allow you the option to go even a little wider than a 12.50 if you chose to do so in the future. Good luck with your decision.

Well, I want to get people's opinions on a similar question. Should I go 17x9, or 16x10. I like wide wheels and fat looking tires.

35" tires will actually look taller on the 16" wheels and the tires will also be cheaper than for 17" wheels. Everyone seems to be going larger these days though. I think it's more a personal preference than anything.

The 9's are a good compromise in the on-going 8" wide or 10" wide debate. That's what I'm running. You can see pics in my gallery if interested.

How will 16" fit on 17" tires? Can you be more specific on size

Sounds like you already have your tires. I think he thought you're still shopping, and was suggesting that you buy the cheaper 16" version.
