Default Wheel size and backspacing question - 35" tires

Hi all,

I know I could find this if I searched enough, but I'm hoping for a quick answer

I'm running stock wheels with spacers for my 35s and I'm ready to buy some proper wheels that fit. My biggest point of concern is road safety with the spacers as I have a little one on the way.

For a 17" wheel, what width and backspacing do I need?

Graci

4.5" backspacing works for me, wheel width you want to go 8" for a 12" wide tire. General rule is go 4" less on the width of the tire to find the width of the wheel you need.

For reference sake I run 35x12.5x15's on 15x8" wheel. (JK's also have 5x5 bolt pattern)

I'd go with a 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing.

As stated, 4.5" backspace is the forum rule. I went with 4.25" backspace on mine for no other reason than buying myself another quarter-inch of space. [17x8.5 with 4.25" backspace is what I will be running when my wheels arrive.]

I'd go 17 x 9 with 4.25 backspacing. Gives it a nice look!

35x12.50R17 on 17x8 with 4" BS here, they work and look great, just a little rubbing on the lower control arm. (at full steering lock)

I'd probably do 4.25" to 4.00" at a max. I bought some Spyderlocks and they are 17"x9" with 3.5" backspace. I think I have a cell phone pic showing how far out past the fenders they stick out. I'm running 35x12.50 Nitto Mud Grapplers.
