I am looking at some spacers and I am wondering is a 5 x 4.5 the same as 5 x 5? Sorry but my searching came up zip.

They're not the same. Your Jeep, and its wheels, are set up in a 5 x 5 pattern. 5 x 4.5 won't allow you to get your stock wheels back on.

i think that 5x4.5 is the pattern on a TJ but I could be remembering wrong. I have had to relearn everything since I got the JK!
