Default Wheel spacers

Wheel spacers Good or Bad

Hi guys, I need some of your expertise and opinion.

I am trying to make a decision on keeping my stock wheels and add 1.5" wheel spacers or buy a new wheels as I have already purchase new 33" tires and a 2" lift.

Are wheel spacers Good or Bad as people keep telling me they will damage my axle.

I have them on my rig. Allows me to spend more money on other mods and they hold up great. Putting 37s on the stockers and spacers this summer!

The issue of spacers hurting your ride or not is a never ending battle. Some think they can be harmful, but I have yet to see or hear of any real proof. Some say dealers won't do warranty work on jeeps with spacers, don't know. I run 1.25" spacers with factory wheels, 3.0" lift witth 33's for over two years and had no issues. I love them!Click image for larger version

Install them correctly and maintain them by checking the torque and they are good

Any modification to the wheels, whether you get spacers or wheels with less backspacing will affect the wheel bearings due to moving the wheels further out away from the center. It's up to you whether you want new wheels or to run spacers, IMO good quality spacers are just as safe as aftermarket wheels.

The Jeep should be dimensioned quite well enough to handle the spacers easily, considered what it is designed for.

I had a '73 WV Beetle that I ran for more than 10 years with 1in spacers without any problems. Of course, good quality spacers and regular check are fundamental.

I am currently running Spidertrax on my Jeep for about 9 months. No issues so far.

I ran wheel spacers on my TJ for 10 years without problems.

They've been on my JKU for 4 years, again without problem.

The only downside is supposed to be wear on the front unit bearings...
