Default Wheel/ tire upgrade

Decided that the stock rubicon tires just don't cut it anymore. The wheel tire combo is procomp 6069 wheels and 285/75/16 procomp mt2. Also im looking at the 285/70/17 set. Any recommendations? Anybody running this setup ? Any rubbing issues?

. The 16" wheels got 4" backspacing and the 17" got 4.7". Even without spacers or lift i think this setup will work. Any input is much appreciated.

Either combo should look/fit great. Personally I'd go with 17's.

Never ran it on a jeep... But u said 285/75R16 Procomp mtz.... I ran the procomp mud terrain (mt) in a few sizes and the mtz in the mentioned size.... The MT is a WAAAAAY better tire, in my opinion.... And ur question about 16 or 17....I would personally go with 16....It's the optimal offroad wheel size... Well really 16.5" with bias ply tires is the best off road wheel combo but that's pretty much for professional rigs....

**this is just my personal opinion**

16.5 inch wheels have an extremely poor bead design. They would be the absolute worst pick, especially for offroading.

Based on the fact they have a bead design at a 40+ angle made not to lock the bead on the wheel with nothing but air pressure.

Edit 15* bead, But it is what is on military hummers. But on a normal rig w/out bead locks when airing down it is way too easy to break a bead loose.

Are you saying that for the last few decades that aired down 35" tires with 15" rims don't work? Years before 17 inch rims came to market?

I like the 17s. Both backspaces you mentioned will be fine with that tire size.
