Default Wheel weights?

The last shop that balanced my tires used those clip-on style weights that wedge between the outer wheel and the tire.

Well, I think 1-2 may have flown off, or were knocked off when wheeling. I know at least one wheel is missing all of its weights.

I think I've seen an alternate style wheel weight, the kind that uses tape or adhesive and is placed on the inner wheel. Are there any Jeeper caveats to using those (any more/less likely to fall off), or reasons why they'd be undesirable? Any other options I'm not considering?

That's what I use--stick to inside of wheel where rocks are unlikely to reach. Only caveat is keep an eye on clearance for weights if you have small rims. My front passenger side 16" wheels come pretty close to the Currie tie rod end, and can scrape off weights not placed far enough outboard. Same might happen with 15" wheels and OEM brake calipers.

I was using the stick on weights but they just never balanced as well as the clip on weights. Granted the clip on looks ugly with black wheels... Rather have a smooth ride than worry about looks.

Ooh. Good point. These are the stock 17" moab-style wheels that came with the Jeep, stock calipers, etc. I wouldn't think there's a clearance issue, but I'll double check! The wheels probably won't be on the Jeep when they're balanced.

have sticky weights on beat to crap toyo's and beadlocks, never had a problem with the weights coming off or being out of balance.

Are you totally against bead balancing?

Airsoft bb's are cheap and effective..

here is a good website for reference: Aggressive Tire Chart

I just purchased 35's on 15 soft 8's ill be mounting and balancing myself when they get here
