I have been racking my brain and about going blind reading all the threads after searching about black wheels. I have a question that i can't seem to get a good answer too either from the FAQ or searching. I want to buy black soft 8 type wheels i want either 16x8 or 17x8 not sure which yet depends on tire prices i can get. The question i have is backspacing i have a RC 2.5" BB and everything else is stock. I need to know if the 4.5" BS or the 4.75" or some other BS will keep the tires inside the flares because of PA's anal inspection laws. The tires i will be running will be 285/75/16 or 17 and what offset will i need on the wheels i know i can keep the stockers and use spacers but i will not run them because they don't pass inspection in PA. Also 90% of my driving is on road so full flex and other items are of no concern to me at this point just keeping it inside the flares and not rubbing on parts is. I checked all the black wheels threads and 80% don't list what offset and BS they used, so any help and possibly pictures of these said wheels on and '08 two door X would be helpful thanks in advance.

 

Well...do like we do in Delaware.. Change tires when it's time for inspection. i bought rugged ridge 17x9 rims and they only stick out 1 1/2"

 

i had 285x75x16s on at first and 4 1/2" backspacing tires stuck out about 3/4 of an inch

 

Do you have a picture of it from the front with the tire in view? if not it seems if i went 4.75" BS that would take them flush with the flares. As far as the other answer I'm not wanting to change tires every time i get it inspected IMHO that isn't worth it when i can just get the correct BS since i am spending the $$ for after market wheels but that's my opinion and you know what they say about that.
