Default Wheels weight

How much of a difference is there in the weight of a steel wheel vs. an alloy in a 16x8.

On some dealer web sites they will tell you. Some alloy wheels will weigh more than others due to the type of rim design. Steel rims would have those same variations. Good luck in finding the perfect rim for you.

It depends on both the alloy and the steel wheel. The factory wheels are just above average on weight for alloys ~25-27 lbs. Steel wheels can weigh 35-40lbs. The difference in weight going from stock tires to 35-37s x12.5 is going to be more significant than the increase in rim weight.

I weighed my pro comp steelies:
16x8, 4.25 BS = 30.5 lbs

I looked into th weight of other pro comp aluminum and they ranged from 25 to 28 lbs.

Seen alloys/aluminum rims crack, why I run steels, even if they are heavier.

Of the Procomp web site 16x8s alloys are 15.43 pounds ligher than the same 16x8 steel rims.
If you get steel rims thats over 60 pounds of extra weight, this will lower your engine power slightly and increase your fuel consumption and reduce your braking power.
Alloys are also better offroad, they don't bend as easily as steel rims do. Most rock crawler, desert racers are all running alloys for reason.

I noticed since switching to steel rims the ride is harsher, is this due to the added weight?

Increasing the unsprung weight will reduce the responsiveness of the suspension, but that amount of added weight shouldn't change the ride noticeably.

The steel wheels are actually more compliant than most alloys.

Are you using the same tires and air pressure as you did on the alloys?

Same air pressure, different tires. Went from the stock SRAs to Goodyear Silent Armors.
