Picture this, I'm in my local Goodyear store at 0800 this morning. I want to buy a set (5) Black spoke 15" wheels, mounted woth a set of 31-10.50x15's....got cash in hand+!

He says 15's won't fit because the rotors and calipers won't clear them.... gotta...GOTTA buy 17's MINIMUM.

So I walk out, disgusted.

What's the story, will 15"X8's with a 4.5"+ back space work or not?

 

4 is iffy, 3.75 shouldn't be a problem.

So where do I find the right wheel? Most advertisers don't list back spacing in their adds.

 

Go to the wheel mfg's website. Most will list it. If they don't, there is a formula to convert offset and width to bs.

And re-read that thread to see what has worked for other. (People have had good luck with cragar soft 8's.)

X2... Most sites will give you BS or Offset. The jump straight to 17's sounds fishy though, 16's are a stock size. I'm running 16x8's w/ 4 inch BS.

 

I have a set of 15" x 8" with 3.75" backspacing with 33" mickey thompson ATZ's mounted on them.

I also have a set of 16" x 8" with 4.5" of backspacing with 33" mickey thompson ATZ'a mounted on them.

each of those sets fit perfectly, no issues.

Sounds like your tire shop doesn't know what they are talking about !!

 

I just put on 16 X 10 procomps with 4.5" BS with 33" DuraTracs. Went on no problem. Mounting up 15's seems to be on a case by case basis.

 

Thanks guys, just to simplify things, I think I'll look for a ProComp Package deal(mounted & bal'd) on some 16x8's.
Recommended vendors with good shipping rates for ProComps, please?
