Default Where to measure Caster?

I have one of those 6" x 6" magnet angle finder things (KD Tools Angle Finder
Sears item# 00999793000 Mfr. model# KDS2968)

Of course you need to have the Jeep on level ground but where exactly should I measure the caster angle? the top of the upper ball joint? it seems flat there but I am not sure if it's the best place/correct place?

I used the base of the steering knuckle as shown here...

This location seem to be the most accurate.

Do you think the 7 degree will be good when you go to a double cardin driveshaft up front??

I'm at about 4 degree's. that makes the in the pinion yoke and the driveshaft the same degree's.

Default caster

Ok, I realise this is the JK forum but this is where the "word" search led me. I have an '02 TJ. I just installed an RE long arm kit (upgraded from 3.5" superflex). My springs are 4.5" REs but I'm running ACOS setup in front and Nth Degree Mobility Rear Spring relocators. So my total ride height is 6". My problem after checking measurements and making final adjustments is my steering linkage (passenger tie-rod end) is hitting the bottom of the sway bar link mount limiting my right turn radius.

Now when I checked my caster I used the piece of metal that on the lower control arm mount - you know the where the bolt goes in that has the slash marks on- like a clock face. I rest my angle finder on that little top edge. I get a reading of about 6.5 at the moment.

But after reading here I see you show using the underside of the knuckles. So when I use that location I get readings of like 4-5 degrees. So based on that and 6" inches of lift I should at about 7. My concern is that if I adjust the front end to achieve the 7 degrees it's gonna lower my pinion angle which is around 2 degrees below parallel to the front shaft now. There's a good possibility that the 7 degrees will fix my steering problem but what about the pinion angle?

Thanks for any input
