Call David @ NorthRidge. You'll get the best price, forum discount and outstanding customer service. If you have 3:21 currently you'll need a new front carrier. David will make sure you get the correct stuff.

In my opinion anything made in the USA is a great choice. Stay away from cheap off shore gears particularly made in China. Superior gears used to be made in China but currently are all made in the USA I believe, this is a big question some believe that nothing is forged in the USa and that the USA stuff really comes from Italy.... Korea China make most gears and are pretty crappy, there are russian gears out there too!

Superior and Yukon are the best. I have had them both and broke them both! I hear Richmond & G2 are decent.

So here are some suggestions:

1. MADE IN USA ONLY
2. Make sure they are heat treated and Cryo'd
3. Don't fall for "Assembled in the USA"
4. 8620 steel ONLY don't settle for less!
5. Extra lapping is a plus... and hopefully tested before shipped

This info that you are giving people is wrong. First off Korea makes really nice gears Maybe even the best of what is available right now.

There is no aftermarket JK gear bieng made in the USA right now so good luck buying gears.

NO gear is Cryo'd from the factory and it is a waste of money unless you are a competitor.

I have not seen a JK gear that is not 8620 steel.

Hey David... That was a little harsh coming from someone that spent over $10 grand with you last year!!!

No love lost though.

I don't think I would trust or want to buy anything made in North Korea... nor would most users on this forum.

Cryo'd - Hmmmm.... several companies such as yukon claim this is better

Also David, this is directly from superior's website:

form superiors site...

Our ring and pinion gears are premium quality from start to finish. We start with the purest 8620 gear steel forgings available in the USA and Europe. Computer controlled machining is followed by the latest gear cutting technology and superior heat-treating. We finish each gear with extra lapping for an ideal contact pattern and smoother, quieter operation. (All gears ending in "OE" are Original Equipment products. Use these in ultra-critical noise applications, such as passenger cars, vans and sport utility vehicles.)

I called them and they ARE FORGED in the USA as are some of the YUKON gears.

So I think your quote about me being wrong is wrong... but what do I know I don't sell this stuff for a living I just buy an awful lot of it! from guys that claim they know what they sell!!!

Keep up the good work David.

I think he was referring to the industrial Korea that we actually import items from.

Sorry man I still love ya! I am just trying to make sure accurate info is posted.

No love lost though.
Thank-you!

I dont think I would either and I am pretty sure USA and NK dont have a trade agreamant but I am not totally sure on that.

wether or not Cryo'd is better or not is a huge debate. Nobody that I know of offers a Cryo'd gear standard. You can send it off to get it cryo'd but nobodys gears come like that.

Well I just called there and asked them point blank if any JK gear was made in the USA and they said NO. And they dont have the capability to forge gears in the USA so that is not true.

I have been in business for a long time and this industry is actually very small and I know alot that goes alot good and some not so good.

Please know that I wasnt trying to bust your balls I was really honestly just concerned about accurate info getting out there.

Keep up the good work David.
Thank-you

We use both Alloy USA and Superior Gear. Can't go wrong with either company. Check with David at Northridge.
