wht does ripp sc compare too
Just wondering what power compares too since no jku around here has one to ride in or drive. Cause hate not being able use cruise or maintain speed wit 35s thanks guys
As said, regearing would probably help. But, in an attempt to answer your question, there are a couple threads comparing the RIPP SC to a Hemi install. And most say it compares very well. Regearing will not give you that kind of bump in performance, but it can help a lot. Folks could be more specific, if you wish, if you fill out your profile information so we know what you're driving, what tranny you have, etc. Honest, it really helps to get you better, more reliable information.
I'm not sure if comparing the Ripp SC to a Hemi swap is fair comparison as they are two totally different solutions in terms of technology and cost. Each has its own challenges, pluses and minuses. But since these seem to be the only options to increase power, this is all we have. For me, the Ripp Gen 2 resulted in 215rwhp and 240 torque. Took a trip to a local tuner to get it there, but now I can get out of my own way at highway speeds. I can actually use the passing lane now!!!
It still pops out of overdrive going uphill, but when it does, I'm moving

Seems like adding a RIPP (or anything else to increase power) is kind of wasted if your gearing is way wrong.
If your lugging along on say, 3.21's (or even 3.73 IMO) on 35's. the engine will not reach it's "sweet spot". A RIPP would help, sure, but it is just not efficient, especially if you have the 4 speed auto.
Not specific to Wranglers, holds true for any vehicle.
OP if you have not already done it, gear it right first then see if you feel the need for more power.

I saw a clip on youtube where they compared the two and they produced about the same amount of power in the end, after ripp tweeked theirs a little. I have 5.13's with 37's on a JKU and I want more power. definitely gonna go with ripp, I think it makes more sense. Just gotta save for it now
