Different spring rates for the difference in weight. If you were to put a 2dr kit on a 4dr you wouldnt get the advertised lift out of it.

if you put a 4dr lift on a 2dr, you will get more lift. for instance, TF used to make 1 kit for 2drs and 4drs. the 2.5" coil lift would give a 2dr about 3.5" and the 4dr between 2.5-3". factory suspension is the same. if you put 4dr rubicon with tow pkg, dual top option suspension on a less equipped 4dr or 2dr x/sport/sahara, you will get more lift.

Well the old 3" kit on a 2dr would almost be a 5" on a 2dr. If your planning on adding alot of weight to a 2dr (Bumpers, winch, tire carrier, cans etc) then get the 4dr kit.

I put a 4dr rubicon with tow pkg, dual top option suspension on a two door X without winch bumpers and got almost 2 inches of lift over stock.
