Default width of rims for 35's

Looking at putting 35's on once I regear I have 285-75-16 now which are 11.25inches wide and the 35's I'm looking at are 12.5. What width rim do I want to fit these tires on it 16x8 or 16x10?? Can I use 16x10 on a tire that is only 11.25 inches wide???

It all depends on the width of the tire. I plan on running a 35x12.50 on a 8" wide rim down the road. 10 inch rims will give you a nice wide look but will not hold a bead as well.
