Default Will CAI survive very dusty environment?

My friend is considering buying a JK and upgrade with KNN CAI. But since he almost exclusively wheel in areas like desert, he was worried about the life of those CAIs.

Can anyone give some comments?

Thanks

get a prefilter, its just a sleave that goes over your filter, it'll help alot, and you can clean it easily..

With a pre-filter & keeping it cleaned & oiled it should be fine.

I have run several pick-up trucks and my CTD's with AFE, K&N & Mopar CAI with the oiled filters. The conditions I drive in I call extreme as I am in forestry and when you are following a logging truck or pick-up's during the summer months....it gets pretty darn dusty (Silt & Clay particles). What I have done is ordered what is called a pre-filter (filter bag) that fits over the oiled air filter blocking 99.9% of the smaller particles from entering in your intake or turbo.

The pre-filter works very well as it reduces the amount of times I need to take off my filter and clean it. In most cases I take off the pre-filter bag off and wash it and the filter itself is still clean as it was right out of the box or last cleaning. Also, I have had no issue with dust getting past the filter itself into the intake or turbo.
