Default Will it fit?

I have a 2007 Unlimited X. I would like to put 285/75/16's on her. I know that the largest tire size this site recommends on a stock setup is 285/70/16's. My question is will rubbing only happen while at full flex offroading or will it happen during my daily commute? My plan is to put the wheels and tires on now and the lift next month. I won't go wheeling until I get the lift. I just need to know if this is a decent plan of action? Thank you for your input. oh and I'm really tires of the little tires that are on it so waiting to do it all at once is not what I really want to do...

From what I understand the backspacing on the stock steelies? is going to cause rubbing at full turn, even after the lift. I think you'll need wheel spacers or different wheels with the correct backspacing.

If you are using the stock steelies you may have some problems. If you plan to get new wheels as well, then you wont have a problem. I wheel mine all the time and I have 285/75r16 on Cragar soft 8s with 5" BS, and Ive never had any rubbing even off road. I dont do anyh rock crawling, most mud and woods here in Jersey, so not much flexing, but regardless no rubbing issues.

I personally wouldn't bother putting new tires on without at least going up to 33" tires. I think you will be sorry. Those other tires will start looking small in about a week. That would require new wheels too with less backspacing though. You could also use wheel spacers.

You wont rub unless you wheel and you said you would lift it before that.

I thought 285/75/16 were 33 inches high? Also I am putting new wheels on but they have 4.5 inches of back spacing. So based on your replies I should have no issues unless I wheel. I guess I just need someone to say happy spending!

You are correct, you'll be just fine till you get the lift...

You are correct, it comes to 32.8 x 11.2 . You could even go wider 12.5" with that backspacing.

Oh, "Happy Spending!"

How wide can you go without changing wheels or putting spacers?

Not too wide. The stock Rubicon wheels are something like 32 x 10.5 and they were within a 1/2" of rubbing.
