Question will this RUB?

Like most of us 1st time jeep owners, the first step will be new shoes. My JK is my daily driver but I want aggressive tires for weekend trail rides etcetera. I am in Florida so not too much rock crawling to flex the JK, mostly concerned with traction in mud and sand. So that’s the scenario.

I want new tires and I am considering this tire size and would appreciate feedback from anyone.

LT285/75R16 (33 x 11.5)

Will it RUB without a lift?

Thanks in advance to anyone with experience with this setup.

with aftermarket wheels (4-5" backspacing), you won't rub on full turn (will rub on full flex). With stock wheels, you need wheel spacer.

I ran the exact same size of tires on mine before i lift it up last week (with procomp wheels)

BIM6180,

Thanks for the reply, thats cool. I will be getting aftermarket wheels, maybe Procomp.

I am looking at both Procomp Xtream MT's or Dick Cepik Mud Country

Anyone with opinions of either of these two MT's? I am looking at both On and OFF road performance.

I just bought some Trxus MT's for my son's TJ. I like the look, fairly aggressive looking. The treads are siped so I understand they grip wet roads fairly well too. Haven't put them on yet, but have heard good things about them. I paid $175 ea out the door for 33 x 12.5 x 15's. Very thick side wall also.

I heard that TOYO M/T tires are one of the best out there, and it's siped too

I have those on my Jeep. Love them too! Over $100 ea more than the Trxus though. I bet if you checked weight they would be a lot heavier too!

I dont know when I'll get him out. He is always busy during the school year. Last weekend SAT's this weekend ACT's during the summer he's got basketball tournaments every week??? I am lucky to get out myself.HA!HA!

He's been driving for while but doesn't have much California freeway driving experience. All our runs are so far away, I'll probably start him out on the main divide trail off Ortega Hwy or something to get his feet wet.

I am currently running the ProComp MT's...i would say if you are doing over 80% highway driving they would be a great tire for you (very low road noise); however, i have already destroyed the side wall on one from my first wheeling trip. when i got back to town i ordered a Toyo MT to use for my spare. Before i mounted it, i compared the side walls of the two (ProComp vs Toyo) and the Toyo was superior by far.

They are $250 per tire in 285/75/16 at my local tire store! If you buy from an online dealer, then shipping will kill ya! My tires were $165 per tire with a better replacement warranty. Saved me $425 on a set of 5!
