Default Which winch?

I installed a winch bumper(Mopar) and it looks ridiculous without a winch. Or at least naked. .I'm going with a "budget winch.

Should I go with the $299 Smittybilt? xr8

Or with the $366 Champion 10000

Anyody have likes or dislikes with these?

you should also consider the mile marker 8000# (american made) for $399
also, i believe you should leave the http://www off of your non sponsor links due to the rules. but i believe a mod will inform you of this soon enough

The answer is.....

Depends on usage really, also keep in mind that its out in the wheather alla time.

If you aren't gona be using it except in a "stupid" emergency thats one thing.

If you intend to use it every other trip out thats another.

I decided to go with a reciever mod to my front bumper rather than a built in.
This allows me to winch from either the front or the back and remove the thing when just around town.

Everybody has wants and needs and has to decide the best they can.
In the end no matter what you do it won't be good enough and you'll realise that you have a further "upgrade" to do down the road....
LOL

Anyway have fun out there and make it home.

smittybilt winch is disappointing me. xrc-8 model. Not so much for pull power.

rusting on some bolts in 1 week (7 days) wiring came from factory backwards. crazy. And they don't have a cover for us that plan to keep it on the jeep. I also have some of the chrome already corroding. I called them and they are sending me a new wiring harness but that is all they plan to do.

Superwinch EPi 9000 is a great winch for the money. We use it on all our vehicles and they are truely designed to last. I could go off on all the features and design atributes they have that make them the best winch for the money but I'm trying to avoid big long posts these days but a few quick things:

Sealed solinoid modual.

Break on the outside of drum, so no overheating or melting synthetic line.

Solinoid modual have silver contact points for everlasting use.

comes with a snatch block.

price is usually around $600, and if you look in the right place you can find it for less...

Used the Champion 8000 on RubyDoo for a while before i got the Warn 8274.

Is it cheap, yes.
It works, yes.
Is it slow, Yes.
Are you going to use it alot, If you do you WILL need to rebuild it as the gear oil and the drum bushings go bad.
