Thanks for the good stuff about the bumper.

I don't thank anybody who knows winches is going to say that Warn is better than Ramsey. Ramsey winches are on more tow trucks than any other winch. Does Warn offer a lifetime warranty? Both are made it the USA and I wouldn't regard either as better. They are both top notch.

Ramsey does not offer what I would call a racing winch though. And the 9.0rc is what I'd consider a racing winch.

I agree with your light weight approach like I said before, and I would like to do it that way.

The advice you getting is people's opinions. Non of them are wrong, if fact you would probably do quite well with any of the choices that have been suggested. There a lots of people that say they are satisfied with Harbor Freight and Smittybuilt winches. The brands thrown out here will all do you well.

Good luck with the decision - never seems to be as easy as it should......

9500(4310) 6.67(2.03) 425 amps

So really what this is saying is if you pull the 9.0rc out you will only be out about 40' and only being able to pull about 6K pounds.

At 40' out with the 9.5ti you still have approx 8k pounds of pulling power.

The 9.0RC really is for really short pulls even with a extension it does not make sense to me.

I tried a superwinch, it was a POS, I got a smittybilt comp10 (synthetic rope) because I dont use my winch everyday, If I did use a winch everyday, I would get a Warn, Nuff said.

Default winches

well, i am rethinking this a little. a winch like the ramsey 8.5se or warn 8000 with synthetic line weighs around 60 lbs (or slightly less). that is pretty close the what i started with thinking about getting a 9.0rc. nobody seems to think a "racing" winch like a 9.0rc should go on a jeep that is not a competitive rock crawler type of rig. the 9.5ti seems like it would be great, however a little pricey with synthetic line. the ramsey 8.5e w synthetic line should be around 750 bucks. now i have to compare some pulling power stats and line speeds to see how much you give up from saving $ and not getting a 9.5ti (or comparable winch).

thanks all for the help

The 8.5e is SSSSLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW. If you need a synth line, check mine out. Technora line (same as Ramsey sells) at a great price. Couple links:

bottom line : : when you buy a warn winch you bought your last winch!!!!! also if you know your getting synthetic rope then do yourself a favor and get the 9.5si i got the 9.5ti and ended-up getting the rope later (thanks dave Northridge4x4 )

The M-8000 is a little bit faster at 8000 pounds 8.01 F/m (435A)Weight 74Lbs VS. 9.5 TI at 8000 pounds 7.59F/m (370A) Weight 89Lbs. The Duty cycle of the 9.5 TI is better consume less amps = more amp. reserve capacity in the batteries.
Also, with the M-8000 you can mount the solenoids in a remote secure place out of water and moisture.
The cable capacity of the 9.5Ti is 25" more.
My choice is M-8000 tested, his winch has been on the market for a long time
in the warn product line apart of the 8274 its stands alone
