winch cable
i used my winch today to actually pull something other than just stretching it out and i noticed that a couple wires broke?? is that normal of should i give smittybilt a call to get a new wire?
a few broken strands cant be that bad, can they?????
i mean its waaaaay too easy to snap a few strands when pulling things under load.
usually what happens is a coil will overlap another coil and then it will decide to slide off next to it, with that comes a broken strand or 2.
not only that even the manual states that you should wear leather gloves to protect your hands from stray strands. if broken strands were that bad wouldnt it say something along the lines of : if any broken strands exist replace entire cable"???

This is what Warn has to say about it. Check rope for visible damage every time winch is operated. Examples of damage are: cuts, knots, mashed or frayed portions, and broken strands. Replace rope immediately if damaged. Failure to replace a damaged rope could result in breakage.
