I installed my winch in the stock bumper and extended the lines to put the control box by the battery where it would be safe from water. I will be extending the wired remote into the cab but for now am using my wireless remote.

I would put some wire loom around that positive wire for safety's sake! Nice clean install.

I bought the Recon 10,500lb wench. It is waterproof and comes with a wireless remote. No need to relocate the control box(part of the casing).

Also, shout out to a fellow MS jeeper! I know a few folks up senatobia way.
They have nice project boxes at radio shack that work good for things like this.
If your ever up this way give us a shout. We are having a show/fund raiser at 4wp in Memphis this Saturday .

I have the recon and ran my switch into the cab also. I was running out of spots so I made this up. Winch is on far left.

A few PIC's..

Zeon with the top off

Cables attached.

Relay/Solenoid installed in front of the battery with factory Zeon plug

Side view

With this set up I can use wired or wireless controls by plugging one or the other in and closing the hood. The wired will still reach into the cab to the drivers seat if needed.

Most definitely! I can't make this Saturday. But do keep me posted on upcoming events. I'd like to make one this summer.

Thanks for all of the posts and ideas thus far. I'm hoping to get my JK back from the stealership today (ETC light was randomly coming on. My hopes aren't high on their actually fixing it.) plan to start mapping runs for new looms and cables and getting this ball rolling.

Btw. This is the airflow blocking winch control I'm working with.

I have never had any issues with air flow blocking mine.
I have a tranny cooler, hydro assist cooler behind my winch and it has never overheated.
But I do have hood vents and no inner fender liners.
Will keep ya posted. Next thing is June 22 at hawks pride. SRRS races and some wheeling before and after.

I've not had any overheating issues either. That said, I see no harm if freeing up the extra surface space. It also cleans up appearance of the grill area and puts the controls in a better protected, not to mention convenient, environment.

The 22nd could be doable.
