Winch covers, do you use them? Pro's, con's and opinions please.

I've been looking everywhere for a cover for my Warn Powerplant, not much out there.

It protects against water. Water can enter in the motor by the seals.

Thanks for the input. I just installed the XRC 8000 with synthetic line so looks like I'm going to get a cover.

I looked and it seems that a canvas cover is all that is available for the Smitty. I would prefer a neoprene cover, but so for no luck in finding one.

Is the canvas coated with wax or something? Seems like rain water would just seep right through.
