Default Winch decision

So I am not sure what winch to go with...trying to keep the budget under $400 and I figure I only need an 8000 lb. winch.
Help me decide

I had no idea the Warn came down in price...What are the advantages of the Warn winches? I am pretty new to the whole winching game....
Is there a way to add the Warn winch into the poll?

Trust me, the superwinch lp8500 is a P.O.S., just take it off your list, you do not want that winch.

I know Warn is the standard by which others are measured but I'd like to know what opinions are about the T-Max stuff.

Not to hijack or anything.

I am looking at investing in a winch or two....one for my JK and maybe one for my truck after this happened to me yesterday at work...back in the boon docks!! Had to abandon and get AMA to come winch me out at a charge of $3/km +$300 bill...half way to a winch

I like the warn...but dang they are pricey...looking more at the 8500 or 9000

Other than the synthetic line, is there any difference in the XRC8 and the XRC8 Comp Series???

And I have always sort of leaned towards Warn but wasn't sure if the bottom-of-the-barrel Warn is really better than some of the other companies better winches. Thanks for the help so far...

One last thing, at $285, would i be stupid not to get an XRC8??? To all those running it, how is it holding up? Is it waterproof?
