Default Winch Engaged or Disengaged?

Got a new warn 9.5ti winch. Should I leave the winch engaged or disengaged when not in use?

I have a smitty bilt, with the engage or free spool option

I leave it in engaged...........but this is my first winch so it will be nice for me to when more experienced people get back to ya

Engaged, with very slight tension on the end of the line.
