Default Winch fit

This is probably a question everybody already knows the answer to, except me of course. I'm leaning towards the Warn Elite full size front winch bumper. My question is will other brand winches bolt right up? Or is there modifications involved? Thanks.

You should be ok, although I think the Warn Zeon might be a very tight fit.

Grand, thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I won't be going with a Warn winch as they are pretty spendy. I don't know if they all have the same mounting holes or if warn is different.

Pretty much all the winch brands have the same mount dimensions. Warn smitty, rugged ridge, quadratec, engo, the harbor freight ones, super winch, any brand you would WANT to purchase a winch from.

I have the warn elite series bumper. pretty sure it has the standard mounting holes. I think the only winch you would have to worry about is the warn zeon but it has special brackets included to make it work.

Pretty sure all winches have a 10" x 4.5" bolt pattern so you'll be good.

Nope, even the Zeon has the universal mounting hole dimensions. The only time figment is a problem is some of the sunken winch mounts since the winch is wider than most.

Thats right, i went back and read the directions, the Warn PowerPlant takes trimming of the bumper mounting plate. I knew there was something like that. Either way it mounts the same.

Thanks for all the responses, I'm looking at the Engo and the Quadratec winches. I definitely want a sunken winch mount and d-ring points and bull bar and fogs, all within my price range. I also want an easy install, looks like the warn elite requires some cutting and drilling, that just might rule it out. Thanks again.

I installed the Warn Elite by myself which, in retrospect, was a mistake because the 8 bolts to mate to the frame have very tight tolerances. Yes, you do have to cut a bracket and rotate the vacuum thingy that's behind the bumper by 90 degrees, and there is one slot on the frame that needs to enlarged a bit so a bolt will fit, but it's very doable if you have the right tools. It's even doable if all you have is a file and a hacksaw; just takes longer.

It's a good bumper, the winch sits down low (which I like), you can use the factory fog lights, so don't let the install be the reason to not go with this one.
