Default Winch install question

My bumper and winch are scheduled to be delivered today When I install the winch is there anything that I can do that will make it harder to steal. What are some options besides welding it to the bumper?

More info on your setup would help us give better advice
what echo said, need more info on your set up. if some one has the the time and knowledge, they can take what they want, you just want to not give them much time to do it in. therefore, i read where some one suggested tack welding the bolts holding the winch on, just hope you never have or want to remove it.

definitely more info would be needed. some bumpers would definitely make stealing a winch a lot more work.

Would one of those proximity/motion car alarms help? Someone wrenching on the front of your jeep would surely set it off. Something to consider is the annoyance factor from everything else that would trip it... ?

On any bumper, spot welding the underside bolts would certainly would do the trick. Also, the heavy guage wires that connect winch to battery are not easy to snip (are bolt cutters on the ass*hole thieves packing list?), so a decent hood lock is always a good idea.

I have the RR XHD bumper. I am planning on installing it Sat. Its great having all the boxes sitting in the living room. This will be the first mod I,ve got to do to the Jeep besides relocating the mirrors.

Unless you want the alarm to go off when someone walks in front of it I don't recommend. I have a prox sensor inside and adjusting it when doors off is a pita!!!!!!

X2
If you tack weld the bolts to the bumper, they cannot get it off without a grinder or torch; however this includes you too.

Default Winch

I have the same bumper, install winch first make sure cable is thru fairlead slot & bottom wire connected to winch b4 bolting winch to bumper then install bumper. The bumper is so close you can't get to the bolts once bumper is installed. Also make sure you install fogs prior to bolting bumper on. I am REAL good at takin that thing on & off now!

Thanks. Everything came in today and looks great. After looking at it I don't think you could get the winch off without taking off the bumper. I am planning on installing this weekend. With any luck I will be able to post some pics. soon.
