Default Winch Installation For Dummies

I've got my bumper off and everything ready to mount my Rough Country Winch plate to the Jeep. I'm also ready to put the winch on the plate.I have two questions:

1. What kind of thread locker is best for the winch plate bolts?

2. Do I need thread locker for the bolts holding the winch to the plate? If so, do I use the same stuff?

Sorry, but I'm a mechanical moron. There are so many types of thread locker that it confuses me as to which is best for what.

Thanks for any help!

I can't wait to get this thing on there so it is ready to go!

(Just as an FYI, it is an Engo 10k winch.)

A touch of blue locktite would be good.

One first question is about where you will drive and park your Jeep. If it's an area prone to burglary I would use the red Locktite to ensure it is really difficult to remove. You will have some hard times removing it also, but at least you keep your winch. ;-)

I also bought the ENGO E10000. One advice is that you install the cable that goes under the winch before you install the winch on the plate. Contrary to the other cables, that one is held by a bolt instead of a nut. And that bolt is a bitch to thread in place after the winch is bolted to the plate.

Also, check the solenoid and the cables' distance to your Jeep's grille. I did not have any problems with my LoD but some folks mentioned some hard times to tuck everything in place after the winch was bolted in place. So, check the assembly before bolting the winch.

Check the cables route through your engine's bay as well. There's more than way to route them and not much slack.

Besides that, nothing special. I had never installed a winch and put mine in place fairly quickly.

Cheers!
