I used the Rough Country winch plate on the stock bumper.

You can also get a universal winch plate for cheap but it requires some cutting or trimming. As mentioned earlier, Rough COuntry is a good piece as well as the Rugged Ridge.

Thank you. We produce hands down the easiest to install and heaviest duty winch plate for the OEM bumper. And so far in this thread the only one made in the USA!

hitch mount. Carry your winch only when you think you will need it. Especially if the JK is your DD.

The tricky part about a receiver mounted winch is you can safely only pull in one direction. A winch plate gives you more recovery angle options as you are pulling from the frame of your Jeep, not a single point like a receiver.

my issue with a hitch mount is basically you are limited to aftermarket bumper with receiver hitch for the front and for the back unless you have a aux battery in the back you end up with a pretty long set of cables going to the battery to the winch and shorter is better. Most of the Costco type kits I have seen that sell cheap champion winches for this have low grade cables and that is not good either. I know Warn makes a kit so they must have faith in that set up but not what I would call ideal. My one and only bitch with the RH4x4 is the powder coating is pretty poor. mine is 2 years old and rust pretty much bleeding thru on all surfaces. that said I recommend them all the time and I am responsible for selling at least 6 of them in the last 2 years.

I have the Rock Hard mount on my stock bumper, along with VDP stubby end caps. I use my winch regularly and have had zero issues. It's a great product. I have zero regrets.
