Is this winch ok? Rugged Ridge Heavy Duty 10,500lbs. It's $399.99 at quadratec

Seems pretty cheap. What am I missing?

Also I would like to mount it hidden with the stock bumper. Will it even fit?

for 100 more you can get new smittybuilt 10000 xh20 water proof. I installed it with the stock bumper. works very good.

How much is involved in mounting a winch to the stock bumper? Is there enough foundation in the bumper or do you have to add more than just the winch mount plate? I would like to keep from adding a lot of weight to the Jeep if possible and I like the way yours is hidden inside the stock bumper, seem like it is less restrictive to air flow to the radiator and engine compartment.

In hindsight I wish I would have got a waterproof wench. Getting stuck in a mud hole and replacing the starter and flushing all my fluids was more expensive than the extra bucks I could have spent on a better wench. But if you are gonna stay dry, doesn't sound like a bad deal.
