winch plate mounting?
hey how are you guys mounting your winch plates? i was gonna to put a 1/4" flat plate on top of the frame rails but there is no way to get a bolt inside the boxed frame. are yous drilling the whole way through and using a long bolt? it seems like that is a bad idea as the frame is made to crumple, and might just do that. so please help, not ready for a winch yet, but i want something to cover the gap between the rails.

take a sawsall and cut a notch in the front of the frame tube, in the plate with the 4 bolt holes, then put a piece of tape on a box end wrench and you can set the lock washer and nut on it, then insert the wrench to the hole, start the bolt, and wahlah.

If you look at post #38 I have pic.s of the install.
Here's the noch you need to cut.
I cut the small noch but you can cut it a lot more to make it easier....I recommend this

Interesting, makes me wonder what Jeeps recommended way of winch installation is?
And is it done in such a way as to keep the crash rating?
I was considering welding my mount but would like to keep the crash rating.

Here's how the Warn Winch plate goes on... This is what I used. It was fairly straight forward and didn't require cutting or drilling. It also has multiple attachment points on the front of the frame where the bumper attaches and on the each side of the frame. Very strong.
YOU WILL NEED AIR TOOLS.
