Default Winch Power Cables

What is the "normal" route for running winch power cables? Why do I see some Jeeps with the power run though the grill, like the one below? Looks sloppy.

I would say the route will depend on how much cable came with the winch. Fortunately I had enough to run mine so it was below the grill and not visible as your picture. The down side is my alligator doesn't have a place to sit.

Yeah you want 6ft of power cable to get to the battery via under the grill

That's a Warn winch in that photo, I'm sure there is enough cable to properly conceal it like it should in any clean install. It kind of just comes down to maybe not being able to think thru it or just laziness. I see rigs like this all the time, always looks half-assed like stated above in an earlier post, running it beneath the grill and over the frame horns is the more preferred aesthetic route

For a little added protection, run the cables thru a piece of radiator hose (3/4" I think it was) from battery down.
