Default Winch Question

I just bought a winch and I wanted to know what is the best way to leave my winch when not using it?

I have seen people leave the end hooked on to the D-Ring and others have it centered and secures to the middle. Is there any reason in particular that I would want to leave it hooked to a D-Ring? What r the benefits if any?

I seeing on ur profile that u have 4.88's. How do like them? I want to regear but can't decide on 4.88's or 5.13.

I like em. If I had a choice at the time(dad surprised me with them) I would have gotten 5.13s so I would be more prepared for larger tires. But the 4.88s made my JK not underpowered

why on free spool?

You want to keep the winch cable under some tension. It makes it a lot easier to re spool later on.

On the D ring . It makes less noise going down the road.
